Dr. Henry C. Lee
"Cyber Crime and Challenges for Crime Investigation
in the Information Era"

Dr. Henry C. Lee is one of the world’s foremost forensic scientists. Dr. Lee’s work has made him a landmark in modern-day forensic sciences. He has been a prominent player in many of the most challenging cases of the last 40 years. He has also worked with law enforcement agencies in helping to solve more than 6000 cases. In recent years, his travels have taken him to England, Bosnia, China, Brunei, and other locations around the world. Dr. Henry Lee was born in China and grew up in Taiwan. He first worked for the Taipei Police Department, attaining the rank of Captain. With his wife, Margaret, Dr. Lee came to the United States in 1965, and he earned his B.S. in Forensic Science from John Jay College in 1972. He continued his studies in biochemistry at NYU where he earned his Masters Degree in 1974 and Ph.D. in 1975. He has also received special training from the FBI Academy, ATF, RCMP, and other organizations. He is a recipient of five honorary Doctorate Degrees from various Universities in recognition of his contributions to Law and Science. Dr. Lee has been married for thirty-nine years and have two adult children, a daughter, Sherry, and a son, Stanley.

Dr. Jarret Brachman
"Countering Terrorism"

Dr. Jarret Brachman is a specialist on terrorism, Islamist movements and counterterrorism policy. He currently serves as the Director of Research in the Combating Terrorism Center at the United States Military Academy and is also an Adjunct Professor at New York Universityˇ¦s Center for Global Affairs. Jarret conducts research on al-Qa`ida strategy, militant Salafi thought and Jihadi use of new media technologies and is the co-author of "Stealing Al-Qa`ida's Playbook," which was recently quoted by Ayman al-Zawahiri in an official al-Qa`ida propaganda video. He has testified before the U.S. Congress, the British House of Lords and routinely advises senior government officials on counterterrorism strategy. Jarretˇ¦s work been profiled on 60 Minutes, CNN, A&E and a variety of international media outlets including al-Jazeera and Sharq al-Awsat. He served as a Fellow with the Central Intelligence Agencyˇ¦s Counterterrorist Center before coming to West Point. His new book, ˇ§Global Jihadism: Theory and Practice,ˇ¨ is forthcoming with Routledge press. Jarret lives in New York with his wife and two children.

Dr. Hsinchun Chen
"Homeland Security Data Mining using Social Network Analysis"

Dr. Hsinchun Chen is McClelland Professor of Management Information Systems at the University of Arizona and Andersen Consulting Professor of the Year (1999). He received the B.S. degree from the National Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan, the MBA degree from SUNY Buffalo, and the Ph.D. degree in Information Systems from the New York University. Dr. Chen is a Fellow of IEEE and AAAS, and received the IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award in 2006. He is author/editor of 13 books, 17 book chapters, and more than 130 SCI journal articles covering digital library, intelligence analysis, biomedical informatics, data/text/web mining, knowledge management, and Web computing. His recent books include: Medical Informatics: Knowledge Management and Data Mining in Biomedicine and Intelligence and Security Informatics for International Security: Information Sharing and Data Mining, both published by Springer. He is the founder and director of the Artificial Intelligence Lab at The University of Arizona in Tucson. The Lab is internationally recognized for its adaptation and development of scalable and practical artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, data mining, text mining, web mining and visualization techniques, and has received more than $20 million in research funding.

Dr. Bhavani Thuraisingham
"Data Mining for Security Applications"

Dr. Bhavani Thuraisingham joined The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) in October 2004 as a Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Cyber Security Research Center in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science She is an elected Fellow of three professional organizations: the IEEE (Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) and the BCS (British Computer Society) for her work in data security. She received the IEEE Computer Society’s prestigious 1997 Technical Achievement Award for “outstanding and innovative contributions to secure data management.” She was quoted by Silicon India Magazine as one of the top seven technology innovators of South Asian Origin in the USA in 2002. Dr. Thuraisingham’s work in information security and information management has resulted in over 70 journal articles, over 200 refereed conference papers and workshops, and three US patents. She is the author of seven books in data management, data mining and data security including one on data mining for counter-terrorism and another on Database and Applications Security and is completing her eighth book on Trustworthy Semantic Web.

Dr. Jaideep Srivastava
"Data Mining for Social Network Analysis"

Dr. Jaideep Srivastava is a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He has established and led a laboratory that has conducted research in databases, multimedia systems, and data mining. He has supervised 23 Ph.D. dissertations and 44 MS theses, and has authored/co-authored over 185 papers in journals and conferences. Dr. Srivastava has an active collaboration with the technology industry, both for research and technology transfer, and is an often-invited participant in technical and technology strategy forums. The US federal government has solicited his opinion on computer science research as an expert witness. Dr. Srivastava’s industry experience includes leading data mining at amazon.com, and data warehousing, mining, and reporting at Yodlee. He has provided technology and technology strategy advice to a number of large corporations, including Cargill, United Technologies, IBM, Honeywell, 3M, and Persistent Systems. He has served in an advisory capacity to a number of small companies, including Lancet Software, and Infobionics. Professor Srivastava’s current research Interests focus on Web Mining — Application of data mining techniques to Web data. He and his research team are investigating how information about content, structure, and usage of the Web can be mined for knowledge useful to various applications. A critical issue is the modeling of human interaction with the Web. Dr. Srivastava completed his Ph.D. in 1988, in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He also has an M.S. in Computer Science, also from UC-Berkeley (1985), and the B. Tech. degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India (1983).

Professor Joydeep Ghosh is currently the Schlumberger Centennial Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. He joined the UT-Austin faculty in 1988 after being educated at IIT Kanpur, (B. Tech '83) and The University of Southern California (Ph.D?8). He is the founder-director of IDEAL (Intelligent Data Exploration and Analysis Lab) and a Fellow of the IEEE. His research interests lie primarily in intelligent data analysis, data mining and web mining, adaptive multi-learner systems, and their applications to a wide variety of complex engineering and AI problems.

Dr. Fei-Yue Wang

Dr. Fei-Yue Wang is Professor, Systems and Industrial Engineering, at The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, USA. He is presently on leave from The University of Arizona and serves as the vice president of the Institute of Automation at The Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, People’s Republic of China. Professor Wang obtained the Ph.D. in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic University in 1990. His research interests lie in applied technologies (ASIC, SOC, SOPC, ASOS, RT OS, Embedded Systems, Agent-Based Distributed Systems) as well as various application areas (ITS, IV, GPS, Telematics, Web Caching, Smart Appliance and Home Systems). His research interests encompass mathematical theory of intelligence machines, robotics and automation, as well as design and control of manufacturing systems.

Ajith Abraham received Ph.D. degree from Monash University, Australia. Currently he is a Visiting Professor in the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway. His primary research interests are in computational intelligence with an application focus including network security, Web services, Web intelligence, multi criteria decision-making, data mining etc. He has authored/co-authored over 300 research publications in peer reviewed reputed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings of which five have won 'best paper' awards. He has given several plenary talks and conference tutorials. He is the editor-in-chief / co-editor in chief of three international scientific journals and also serves the editorial board of several reputed International journals. He has guest edited 23 special issues for International scientific journals. Since 2001, he is actively involved in the Hybrid Intelligent Systems (HIS) and the Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA) series of International conferences. Professor Patrick S.P.Wang is tenured full professor of computer science at College of Computer and Information Science of Northeastern University . He is Fellow of IAPR (International Association of Pattern Recognition) and co-founding chief editor of IJPRAI (International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence) (with Germany's (Deutschland) Prof. Xiaoyi Jiang ). and WSP MPAI Book Series (with Switerland's Prof. Horst Bunke ). In Fall 1996, Dr. Wang has been elected as Otto-Von-Guericke Distinguished Guest Professor at the Graphics and Simulations Lab of the University of Magdeburg (near Berlin) of Deutschland (Germany). Professor Wang has also served as Honorary Advisor Professor of Xiamen University and Sichuan University of China. Dr. Wang also received an outstanding achievement plaque of by IEEE SMC president Larry Hall at the International Symposium on Bioinformatics & Bioengineering 2008. He has published over 130 papers, 23 books and 3 USA/Germany patents. Dr. Wang got his B.S. in Electronic Engineering from National Chiao Tung University (Hsin Chu), M.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University, M.S. in Information and Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology, Ph.D. in Computer Science from Oregon State University.
