- The National Palace Museum

The National Palace Museum was established in 1925 and is ranked as one of world's best museums, in a class with the Louvre, the British Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The museum holds the world's largest collection of Chinese artifacts, around 700,000 items in all. Since the museum only has  space   to  display  around 15,000 pieces at any given time, the majority of the treasures are kept well protected in air-conditioned vaults buried deep in the mountainside. The displays are rotated once every three months, which means 60,000 pieces can be viewed in a year and it would take nearly 12 years to see them all.

Some of the oldest artifacts in the collection of the museum are pieces of prehistoric pottery over 5,000 years old. Included in the collection are artifacts made from jade, bronze, porcelain, lacquerware and enamel. There is also tapestry and embroidery, and many priceless documents and books containing excellent examples of ancient Chinese calligraphy. Among the most renowned pieces on display is the Jade Cabbage and Stone Pork.
The Chihshan Garden is located to the east of the museum's stairwall and features elegant Sung Dynasty landscaping.

The Taroko Gorge area is also a good place for watching butterflies and bird watching. Butterflies are especially abundant in the months of July and August along the four trails in the gorge area: Mystery Valley, Baiyang Waterfall, Plum Garden-Banboo Village, and Lotus Lake. There is an estimated amount of eighty-nine different species of birds located in the park.

- Taipei City

Taipei City is a hectic and fast paced city with plenty of attractions ranging from museums, historical monuments, shopping centers, just to name a few.

Landmarks:
The Grand Hotel was built in 1973 with a traditional Chinese palace-style architecture and has housed numerous foreign dignitaries. Martyrs' Shrine (War Memorial) is dedicated to the fallern war heroes of Taiwan with an hourly gaurd changing ceremony and contains classical Ming Dynasty architure.

Arts:
Taipei Fine Arts Museum is the first and only musuem in Taipei to showcase modern art and contains twenty-four galleries.

Recreation:
Miramar Entertainment Park is a department store with a 70m ferris wheel on its rooftop and houses an IMAX theatre. Core Pacfic City Living Mall is a shopping center that has a fifteen-story spherical center that houses close to a thousand stores, thirteen movie theatres and numerous night clubs on the top floor.

- Yangmingshan National Park

Yang Ming Park is located in the north of Beitou. Yang Ming Shan was called Tsaoshan (Grass Mountain) during Japanese occupation of Taiwan, because it was covered with grass and seldom visited. It is next to Sha Mao Shan and Chi Hsing Shan with Ta Tun Shan on the right and Kuan Yin Shan in front.

The magnificent mountainous scenery and comfortable weather have made Yang Ming Park a perfect summer resort. Total area of the park is 125 hectares, designed in traditional Chinese style. The natural beauty of the part has won it the reputation as urban forest and the Taipei garden.

- Taipei 101 & Mall

Taipei 101 is the second tallest building in the world, with a mass of shops on the lower floors, incorporating many top brands under the LVMH group, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine, etc. The fourth floor houses the Page One bookstore from Singapore, with the highest-roofed coffee house in Taipei and many fine restaurants.  The name of the building--pronounced in English as "Taipei One-Oh-One"--reflects not just its home city and floor count, but its location in Taipei's 101 postal district, a rapidly developing hub of international activity.

The Maokong Gondola is a gondola lift transportation system in Taipei, Taiwan. Opened on July 4, 2007, the Maokong Gondola is operated by the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) and is part of the Taipei Rapid Transit System. It runs between Taipei Zoo and Maokong. The total length of the line is 4,030 meters. The facilites of the gondola are made by the French company Poma.

Shilin Night Market is a night market in the Shilin District of Taipei City. Shilin Night Market has since become the largest and most well known night market in Taiwan, especially with regards to food, and is a favorite focal point for Taipei's night life among residents and visitors alike. The night market encompasses two distinct sections sharing a symbiotic relationship: a section formerly housed in the old Shihlin Market building containing mostly food vendors and small eateries; and the surrounding businesses and shops selling other nonfood items.

Danshui is a sea-side town in Taipei County, Taiwan. It is named after a river whose name means "Freshwater". The town is also popular as a site for viewing the sun setting into the Taiwan Strait. There are three universities in this small town (population 130 105): Aletheia University, Tamkang University, and St. John's University.
